celebrity pic spam meme, the second

the second part of the celebrity pic spam meme has been invented by alley when she was bored or just generally in a devious mood because she knew i wouldn't pass this up. so, here's chaplin vs. the little fellow once more.

1) ... looking mischievous:

i am not sure whether any one of these two pictures is actually fit for the category, but there's this slightly manic gleam in his eyes that propose some devious shenanigans for the next five minutes.

2)  ... hiding:

mugshots. clearly this man has something to hide. himself from the public that is.

3) ... romantic:

i don't know whether civies!chaplin was a romantic, but his ragged alter ego certainly was. anyway. in the first picture paulette has been presented with some flowers. let's pretend they were given to her by her husband.

4) ... dancing:

what did d.w. griffith say? 'that fuckin' dancerrrr!' and chaplin was a great dancer indeed. he was even great when sitting at a table.

and because i can and also because i didn't want to limit myself, there's a bonus picture of him standing up.

5) ...being a gentleman:

see romantic... so my take on the subject was, civi!charlie saved a seat for his gal, whilst tramp!charlie is offering his coat as some sort of make-shift umbrella to edna.

6) ... not being a gentleman:

thinking outside the box continues in this round. so the first picture shows charles getting rid of lita for the summer in a very nonchalant way in order to safe face by putting her on a slow boat to china hawaii (bastard!). and the second picture is pretty much self-explanatory since darn hosiery has just killed carmen.

disgusted by joan barry. disgusted by cheese. in chaplin's book, one is synonymous with the other.

8 ) ... well pleased:

look at them. charlie and charlie are very content. now i have to make up my mind which one of the two is more pleased with his girl -- and himself. (sorry for the lousy quality of the first picture.)

charlie either composes ... or tumbles down a cliff. there are no other options in this man's life.

in real life, he's sporty with doug. on film he's sporty all by himself, but still needs a pole to hold him up. (bending over backwards for his art is acquiring a whole new sense here!)

and with all that i'm going to get a life and leave you to yourselves to fill in your own meme.
