the dancing crows

every winter, the crows are gathering in this city in order to survive the cold season. the colder it gets, the bigger the swarms. one of the great side effects of this phenomenon are the dancing swarms every evening. single flocks gather together every evening to create one big swarm before they settle down for the night in the trees around. but see for yourselfves below.

still hoping to catch them next week a bit earlier. the earlier, the bigger and livelier the swarms. they had already begun to settle down, when i caught them on camera.

our crows here luckily aren't of the scary type. their dancing is really beautiful. do you get swarms like this in dresden?

Yes we do! And they also "dance"
I was quite astonishe how many crows there are in Dresden during the winter. sometimes the trees are simply black! And although I know that "The Birds" is just a movie, I am afraid of big swarms om crows and seagulls ever since - not to mention taht hugh seagull that attackt me when taking a small trip in a canoe last summer in sweden. It was coming really close my head and I sceamed and screamed and tried to scare it away with my paddles. This was scary!

they only do that when they are nesting. we had one gigantic sea-gull from hell nestin on our roof. leaving and entering the house was quite an adventure at times. :-D
