meaningful idiocy

if you can't depend on anything, you can still depend on two things: godwin's law and the ignorance of people.

a few days ago, my hackles were raised once more by a certain resident forum-idiot. he posted some mobile pictures of himself, sporting a hitler 'stache. now, i am not one to jump into people's faces for making fun of the gang of people dressed in stool-coloured riding gear. quite to the contrary! however, i do take tons of umbrage when that moron (and i honestly cannot think of another word to describe that person. though imbecile and knucklehead spring to mind...) has been known to spout such nonsense like, 'let's invade poland because those people are just like jew-hating nazis and they stole my grandmother's parents-in-law's house. how dare they to live there peacefully for 60 years!!!' honestly, i am not kidding you.

and to top it all off, now he is pouting because someone had suggested these pictures might be a tad misplaced or, gasp! dare i say it?, offensive, especially coming from him. who is bending each topic towards that one topic within a matter of three sentences. and then he is accusing us others when we call him out for that nonsense and tell him to go play in the road. because we are always limiting poor polish-hating, east prussia-loving, women-hating, gay-bashing laddie-wee mr innocent. i kid you not, he claims to be only making fun of 'those twelve unfortunate years of germany's glorious past'. (quote - unquote!) if others can do it, why not he?

yes, why not he indeed? the argument, furthermore, went that way that chaplin and mel brooks did the same thing. and why are americans and the british allowed to make fun of nazis, but germans aren't?

well, mr hotshot, the answer is simple: germans are allowed to make fun of nazis. but i would keep my big, fat trap shut, if i had been known to support some 80% of the nazi-ideology! yes, chaplin and brooks did make fun of hitler. but they would have also found their names way on top of the party target list! their argument was simply, 'destroy what destroys you by pulling down the imaginary pants of the kaiser!' you, my dear, have been known to lick the kaiser's arse!

the other argument (freedom of speech) must also been seen in context. i don't know about you, but i just can't remember ever having heard within the past 60 years that an american far right-winger walzed into nagasaki, spray-painited the slogan, 'enola gay was here!' on a building in the city centre, and then claiming it was all in good jest and jest is a freedom of speech, too. to continue with that idea, did a single brit demand a distant cousin's cottage on the continent back, because it had been in the family some 400 years ago when calais was still english? and then saying the french did not have a sense of humour because they refused to chuck out a family who has moved into that cottage only a week ago. yes, both these nations have commited attrocities against mankind in their long histories. and both nations have claim to present resident-idots, too. but generally, people do have a sense of respect. even towards their former arch enemies. (it's also called, 'pulling your head from your rear end and getting over past defeats. but you wouldn't know that since you are unconscious most of the time.)

calling this ignorant behaviour 'freedom of speech' doesn't work here. nor can you wind your way out of the situation by blaming it all it on a crude sense of humour with which you supposedly want to subvert social taboos. because you only behave this way so you can limit someone else's true freedom of speech eventually. that is exactly what hitler did. and simply calling him schicklgruber doesn't work in that respect either. in your case, it comes down to a known history of disrespect towards a group of people who had suffered under him. i am speaking of the nazi's gay victims! you have been known to attest hitler hidden queer tendencies in order to take him down a notch or two and destroy his image of terror. never fight the enemy by using the enemy's anti-human ideology, ultimately revealing yourself to support that selfsame ideology! it just makes you an obvert, rather than covert, bigot.

actions are meaningful. and noone can claim subversion when he has a record of actually supporting that which he pretends to be fighting against. wearing a hitler-'stache (in 'jest') and demanding the disestablishment of poland belong to that category.

end of rant, a.k.a. 'an open letter to a nazist ignoramus'. for this month at least.
