Right I need linguist support!
After having an argument with a Scottish friend in the pub last night over when a language becomes a independent language, I decided to bring the issue to the blog! Not that every argument or disagreement ends up on here. Well, does it? As the best linguists I know, I have a question for you. My friend believes he speaks a separate language (English Not Welsh)from me, which he claims as ‘Scots’. Now I understand why he would want to say this, as it always is a boost to a national identity to speak their own language, as it does seem to be one of the main ‘rights to nationhood’. And many Scottish people have commented on this in the political stages!

The last film me and Rita saw together was Borat in the Cyffordd Llandudno cinema. And apart form the fact I was almost sick with laughter, I have never heard so many gasps out of Ritas’ mouth in such a short time! Now as we all know, or at least I hope we do, Sacha Cohen is the greatest Jewish comedian and actor EVER! And apparently, so I have heard through the Oxford gossip scene, he is coming to Oxford for a performance!
.
I am so going! I have also been doing some research of this very non-conformist person, who actually is amazingly clever. Here are some of the greatest Wikipedia moment. And the best thing was his reply to the president of Kazakhstan, who was very upset about his perception of their country, which he did in Character. And he did a very simular one when he was playing Ali G on Wales, and that was great! Oh my god ist sehr gud!

Movies.
Well as we are all fans of culture here, I was wondering if you lot could give me a review of a film that I am dying to see. Its in German but soon to be out in the UK I believe and I want to see it so bad. Its Sophie Scholl - Die letzten Tage (The last day?). And as Sophie is one of my personal role models and heroines, I really want to see this! Have any of you lot seen it? And if so what’s it like? Is it good. Hope that your not working yourselves to death and not sleeping at the library

No! I am not suggesting that the EU be sent into outer space, although I am sure some people would be happy to see this. I am talking about the EU space program. I had no idea that the EU was actually in space. I wonder if in 200 years time the EU would have established colonies on the moon or something. Like the European empires of the 19th century. Ooooo that would be interesting!
Well whilst working hard again, I was searching through the BBC website for official things to see. And I found this. I had no idea we Europeans (Grits teeth automatically), had this sort of thing going on! I have decided I might send the a letter, asking if they could send me on a flight to Leipzig as a test pilot. I wonder if their training camp is anything like this? Look behind the cut for an artists impression.

 Dear All .
Well I am unsure if you are aware but there is a huge amount of period historical drama being produced at the moment. Primarily surrounding the Tudor time period. Henry - Elizabeth. Whilst Tudor history has always remained popular within the conscience of the British nation, but the resent explosion of popular materials even outreaches this fascination.
Pondering on this and getting into a historical social debate with some friends in the pub I have come to the fallowing conclusion. This period is very similar to our own period in British identity and history. Before you claim me to be mad, and finally giving into years of Caffeine and alcohol abuse listen to this.

 The (British) Empire strikes back!
(For all you Angst / British cultural students - Including those who at the moment are reading something about British shop keepers or something simular, which is just strange - according to Facebook) After missing the bus this morning I finally got into work, 5 minutes before opening time. Actually, come to think about it, running to work is becoming more of an everyday occurrence. Well… I logged onto the BBC website and found this interest article on the British Empire, and the shame culture. Personally I am not ashamed at all, but quiet proud. And if former colonial countries are constantly moaning I would like all the roads, railways, books, school, medical and financial aid we gave them back including stupid amounts of welsh coal and slate.

<- Look Rita my first Icon.
.
Referendum?.
Well… It been all over the political agenda of the UK. Even direct action on a stupid scale has erupted in London. Members of the house of commons were removed, with a Liberal MP being asked to leave and was fallowed by a walk out of an entire political party. And its all over the small issue of the EU referendum. Yes… I know there have been disagreements in the past on the blog about this… interesting organisation. But I thought it might be of interest, and its nice to talk about something that directly affects us all as ‘European Citizens’ (Grits teeth).

Count down! Right – Tonight begins the latest attempt of Stiwart trying to get his head around the ‘impossible’, or ‘German’ as its also known in the common tongue (Sorry for the Lord of the rings reference). I asked to be put on the medium standard for this intensive course I start tonight, as I know a little bit of German. Well actually… I can remember bits from living there as a child and I just annoyed Rita for weeks with asking questions constantly on the Sofa, Was ist das? And for some reason shouting my German, which I blame on WWII films, Nena 99 Luftballons and Monty Python. Although, I still think it should be recognised as an official dialect, Stiwart Deutsch! Slowly though I am getting my head around ‘CH’, but sadly when I Say ‘Ich’, it still sounds like I am speaking Welsh!

Hello again, Well… whilst working hard today, (If you consider writing weblogs, checking facebook and fecking about on Wikipedia working hard) I discovered one of the funniest things I have ever seen on the Internet, its so good it actually deserves its own post. .
Well as most of you know, the London Underground is a strange place but is the main stay of London. Now the voice for the London Underground is Emma Clark, who is a journalist, radio worker and ‘the voice of the London underground. Millions have heard her say ‘Mind the gap please’, or such the likes. But lately she has created her own spoof version, although now she is no longer employed by London underground as a result.
These are amazing!

As we all know ‘Ritas Kleine Welt’ (Ritas little world), is awash with the activities of numerous Fan Girl-ness. Although, sometimes referred to as being a bit weird, by the male writers or even as worrying strange, this aspect to the blog remains stronger than ever!

I’ve am now a student at Oxford Uni, well part time anyways.
Sounds impressive, doesn’t it? Well… to some people, personally I would rather hack off my head than be a full time undergraduate here, but you know. I am now on an intensive weekend German course for the next three weeks! Starting Friday evening until 10. Then all day Saturday and Sunday. I don’t expect to be anywhere near fluent, but hopefully it should help for the travels.

Hello everyone, I see that the American film thingy (Oscars or whatever they want to call it) was an interesting event. Personally I was not watching it, but to busy sleeping. This weekend was a very average chilling out session. Very enjoyable, Matt has gone home for the week (Oh, I miss being a student) and I am still here and missing him.
Apart from that nothing has really happened, fed up with work already as stupid demands are coming in and no one else seems to be about so there is no way I am going to be able to do any of the work. Bloody OU and their strange working methods. Well… at least I have a job, although there have been some phone calls, with people asking me if I want to have another job. So keeping my cards firmly to my chest at the moment. Apart from that, nothing else to report!

Strange is it not, when you look at the map of Europe from One hundred years ago, from the power of massive and ever increasing states, we have devolved into a collection of minor powers united by our European Union.
The thing that makes me laugh is how everyone is claiming that Kosovo is a extreme example. Well… there might be major parts and influences but I am not sure how on earth you can claim that it is okay for one group of people to claim independence and not for all minority nations. I understand the trauma of the Albanian (Kosovan people) have been extreme within the last 20 years. But what about other stateless groups? How can it be illegal to democratically claim self-determination?
