i have just spent some four hours on the phone with friends and we were mutually at our whits' end and we three kept repeating the same phrases over and over again. 'i am lost for words! i can't form a coherent thought!'

a quick search query on deviantART with the words 'cute nazi' returned a staggering number of 1,365 hits. that is discounting an unchecked number of nazis and fascists on there promoting their 'art' and helping deviantART fill their own pockets by passively lending a platform to these people. they seem to fall into two categories: dumb girls between the age of 14 and 18 who truly think that mengele was as cute as a button and göbbels just your average kind of misunderstood adorable sweetums of a guy. and then there are the hardcore, die-hard, true neo-nazis who wank to american history x and send their love to deary adolf. yeah, the last time i visited a concentration camp i smiled with glee. especially when i remembered that spread in country&style and suddenly realised that good german oak makes for a hell of a good barrack for outings over the weekend.

most of all i am disappointed and disgusted by the owners of deviantART, though, for supporting antisemitism on the web by lending these people webspace for free!!! i had once thought of opening an account there. not so much now. i won't stoop so low and associate with such people who piss on the millions of graves filled on account of nazis cheerully wanking over human suffering in the most painful, most dreadful way unimaginable.

deviantART, you truly have revealed yourselves as the sad bastards of this passing year!

preparing for my seminars tomorrow, quite by accident i stumbled across the charming flickr portfolio of a british cartoonist who goes by the name of tom gauld. his work has already been picked up by the guardian and recently he has also illustrated a book sleeve for a publication about british history. especially the comic strips concerned with literature, british history and critical theory tickled my funny bone.

quite some time ago, i hit upon this nifty little web-toy callded wordle. it so happens that with all the silliness that has been coursing through my mind lately and with the literal output of doubtful value, i remembered this helpful application. it is quite interesting to see how one's thoughts, although applied to the same subject, shift towards different aspects. in that respect, wordle is quite a great tool to help one see one's own meandering thoughts more clearly.

alley's nephew drew a number of pictures because in the strange ways of the internet, amazon UK and spiffing aunts who share their love for chaplin with their nephews because her friend introduced them to the BFI dvd-sets of restored chaplin-shorts ... well, before this gets too complicated, he drew a few pictures to say,  'thank you!'

looking outside my window this morning, i beheld a young woman hauling a potted larch tree homewards. it was the saddelst little christmas tree i have ever seen with its drooping branches and the top swaying heavily from left to right every time she took a step. thus i thought i should commemorate the doleful needle beam and draw a portrait in his memory.

i just discovered the webpage of one malawi painter who works from scotland and creates the most hilarious pieces of art. on his canvases he quotes the great masters, rembrand, velasquez and a number of dutch painters from the 16th century -- but he adds a little twist to the mix. contemporary bits and pieces make an appearance. there is the odd aluminium coke can, a boots plastic bag or a mobile phone hailing the virgin mary. my favourite has to be "twinkle twinkle little star", though! the concept just had me in tears of laughter.

ray just moved in on friday evening. how could i have forgotten to inform the world?!? anywho. helge is totally in love with the box that ray came in with and he has been playing hide and seek in the bubble wrap ever since. anywho, the journey in a flatpack has been kinda rough on the new flatmate and one of his buttons has fallen off. but that's nothing i cannot fix. tomorrow, i'll get a bottle of instant glue and stick it back on. (not that he would see the difference anyway...)
