the realization of the day has produced a facepalm of epic proportions. three years after having finished my master thesis ... i just now became aware that the harry potter-series is actually presbyterian.

in mathematical terms, i fail at 1+1=2.

we’ve all done it at one point in our lives. regardless whether the receiving end was a parent, a neighbour, a friend in kiddiegarden, a teacher or someone from telly or the silverscreen. we’ve all, at one point in our lives, worshipped the ground that someone tread on. it doesn’t matter whether that time lasted a moment, a day, weeks, years, … it doesn’t matter who it is that we’re feeling so excited about. a child’s teddy bear can become the ruler of the universe just like the greatest folk-hero that n/ever lived. but: where does this need for hero worship come from? what are its limits and failings? what its benefits?

andrea and i just got back from a most wond'rous screening of harry potter in english -- here in leipzig!!! for the second time only did i catch the chance to see a potter-flick in english on the big screen. the first time was with PoA, which was, as you know, quite some time ago. what can i say? severus snape these films are best enjoyed in all their original glory.

... is a bumpy one and on every street corner you'll find a roadsign on which is written, 'final destination -- 3,500 words away. procrastination -- here.' research is great. writing down all the stuff that's floating round your brain and bringing it into some sort of order is boring. writing stinks!

over on LJ, grayswandir completed this meme and i got inspired by her answers. and because it is monday morning and i enjoy some quality time at home, i thought, i could answer it now instead of waiting till i get home this evening.

spent the evening with the incomparable sabine chatting about the futility of lifestyle, art and creativity -- and what utter bastards men can be sometimes. goethe was an emo-kid, but so were byron and lucius malfoy. in any case: emo-kids are satan's weapon. we contemplated conquering the academic world, but maybe we should settle for such mundane prospects of just conquering the universe, whilst helge is da man. all shall love us and despair. that shall be our credo.
